RI Trout Season opens April 10th @ 6am . We will be open 24 hours for opening day. Freshwater fishing is currently permitted in any RI waters that are not stocked with trout. Early spring fishing for white perch is a popular pastime for mant RI anglers that seek to wet a line before opening day of trout. White perch can be caught on worms or small jigs using light tackle. White perch can be caught at Turner Reservoir on the East Providence / Seekonk line, in the upper reaches of Narrow River near Gilbert Stuart in Narragansett , in the Barrington River at the White Church Bridge and in the Palmer River in Swansea. Bass fisherman are reporting that largemouth bass are starting to work their way up the banks as the waters are warming earlier than normal.

Striped bass fishing is getting underway with the herring runs and warm water activating the winter over bass in the Providence and Seekonk Rivers. Small lures and soft plastics as well as small chunks of cut bait or clams can result in a nice day of early season fishing. Fly fishing for schoolies can be good north of the Point Street Bridge and under the Sprague Bridge in the Seekonk River. With warming temps and the abundant baitfish it won't be long before the larger bass migrate in from the Chesapeake Bay and Hudson River. These fish work their way into the bay and feed voraciously on the herring and menhaden with the largest concentration found in the Providence and Seekonk Rivers and in the East Bay.  They concentrate in these areas due to the herring runs and the brackish water.

We have trout worms , dillies, night crawlers and medium shiners in stock. We also have a variety of saltwater baits. We are open as the weather permits but I can always be reached @ 401 226 6626 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              401 226 6626      end_of_the_skype_highlighting and I live upstairs above the store at 430 Branch Ave.
